What is infrared?

Infrared light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum where wavelengths are slightly longer than visible
red light and shorter than microwaves, because the wavelengths are around 800nm to 1mm it is completely
invisible to the human eye but can be felt as heat. Night vision devices allow you utilze this light using two different
techniques, thermal imaging and image intensifiers. Both give you the ability to see in the dead of night.

Thermal imaging cameras work on the basis that everything emitts infrared light (radiation) gathering it and producing
an image to allow you to distinguish between warm living objects and the cooler environment surronding them.

Secondly image intensifiers gather all availble light photons (visible and non-visible) and converts them into electrons,
multiplies the electrons, then through a phosphor screen converts the multiplied electrons back into light photons
creating an intensified visible image of the viewed area.

Most Image Intensifiers also offer a IR illuminating capability which floods the viewing area with infrared light to brighten
and enhance the visible detail of the environment, whilst remaining invisible to the human eye.

Passive infrared identification systems are designed to take advantage of the light emitted from these IR illuminating night
vision devices by using military grade reflective materials that send every infrared light photon back to the image intensifier,
making more electrons available to be multiplied and converted back into photons to create an intense reflective signature
from the passive infrared product.

Infrared Identification System (IR-ID System)

IR-ID System products produce a high intensity reflective signature with a transmission value of >70% at 835nm,
easily viewable over 800m using PVS-14 night vision device.

All products are manufactured to meet individual client operational needs, therefore the IR-ID System have numerous
applications for personnel, vehicles and equipment.

IR-ID System patches are backed by a power hook for greater strength and security when working with uniforms that have
existing hook and loop capabilities. Once backed with this superior hook, badges are still completely flexible and can
maintain a secure fastening to any flat or irregular surface whilst resisting any stresses from surrounding environments.

If a power hook backing isn't required IR-ID System patches and products are also available on:

- Fabric, suitable to be sewn onto clothing
- Permanent and temporary adhesive with strong abrasion resistance
- Magnetic for rapid application to metal surfaces
- Static cling surface for applications to glass

With the IR-ID System full colour optical patterning technique any flag or insignia can be reproduced and still maintain
an uninterrupted infrared reflective signature, specific to each clients operational requirements.





IR-ID System 100 enables a full colour badge or insignia to be produced whilst still achieving a 100% infrared reflective signature.



IR-ID System Dual ID enables the design to have two different appearances, one in normal light and one when viewed with IR night vision devices.
Improving security where needed by giving individuals or units an easily recognisable infrared signature that is unique to them.
This custom IR signature can be anything from additional insignia, call-signs or even names.

In normal daylight conditions Dual ID badges appear as a normal full colour badge and the additional infrared ID stays undetectable.
This is achieved by using optical patterning techniques to distract the eye with a complex top layer design hiding the custom infrared signature beneath.

This allows for the application of Dual ID badges to extend beyond traditional military use as they can be incorporated into civilian
apparel and vehicles. For covert use they could be made to look and appear like a standard vehicle sticker or colour matched to the
vehicle colour to hide in plain sight; both self-adhesive or magnetic backed.

IR-ID System passive infrared badges are developed and manufactured with a surface coating that will absorb visible light but allow the
transmission of infrared light. The patches can be overlaid with full colour insignia for daylight identification.
When viewed through night vision devices with supporting IR illumination a 100% reflective image can be seen.

Product Type: Flexible infrared reflective badge with low profile hook back fixing system.
IR Performance: The broad spectrum Strata100 standard infrared coating system will allow the transmission
of over 70% infrared light at 835nm. The IR coating chemistry can be formulated to meet the customer's specific operational requirements.

Product Warranty: IR-ID System badges have a one year warranty regarding the continuation of the infrared
reflective performance, when used as intended.
Care Instructions: IR-ID System patches can be wiped clean, or intermittently washed at 40℃, using a mild
detergent. Solvent based cleaning materials must not be used.









Please note we can supply the USA flag FORWARD for the LEFT arm, plate carrier, packs, hat etc. or
REVERSE for the RIGHT arm - USA flags should always fly stars into the wind!

All Dual IR-ID flag patches will feature the International Standards Organization (ISO) 3-digit alphabetic code for the country flag
that will only be visible under Infrared. Alternative alphabetic and numeric codes can be added if required.

maintain a secure fastening to any flat or irregular surface whilst resisting any stresses from surrounding environments.
IR patches are restricted for sale to military, law enforcement and security agencies.
It is possible to manufacture unrestricted patches without the infrared identification.
